The Australian Racing Museum and Hall of Fame in conjunction with Racing NSW, Sydney Turf Club and Australian Jockey Club today announced that the 2007 Australian Racehorse of the Year and Hall of Fame function will take place on Monday 26 November.
The event, which had been postponed in September due to Equine Influenza (EI), will be held at the AJC Pavilion at Royal Randwick.
In making the announcement Australian Racing Hall of Fame Chairman Bryan Martin said: “We have been working with the NSW Racing Industry on identifying the most suitable time to hold this national gala evening, keeping in mind the sensitivities of racing participants in NSW and Queensland who have been and continue to be affected by the EI crisis.”
“After much consultation it has been decided to keep the 2007 Australian Racehorse of the Year and Hall of Fame awards night in Sydney as we believe it is a positive event at a time when things have been tough in NSW.” Martin said.
Peter V’Landys, Racing NSW CEO, is a key supporter of retaining the event in Sydney.
“Whilst it was appropriate to postpone this event in September during the worst of the equine influenza crisis it is an important national event which must proceed. We hope that this event will lift the spirits of racing’s participants and remind us of the outstanding characters involved in our great industry” V’Landys said.
All bookings for the event will remain confirmed for this new date, however those who wish to cancel can be refunded and can do so by phoning 1300 139 407 or cfcc@racingvictoria.net.au.
