Canterbury Park is gearing up for its biggest day of racing ever as the stage from where the 2008 Golden Slipper Festival will be launched tomorrow, Saturday 5 April.
Myer Sydney Confidential Ladies’ Day features a return of Group 1 racing to the most intimate racecourse in Sydney.
The event is billed as the ultimate day out for the ladies, with the first 5,000 on course receiving a NIVEA Visage gift bag.
Women’s heats of the Myer Fashions on the Field contest will be held in the Fashion Precinct. Ladies dressed in racewear are invited to enter the competition for a chance to win part of the prize pool valued at more than $65,000. To enter, register at the Fashion Precinct between 11am and 12noon.
The heats of the National Young Designer Awards will also take place in the Fashion Precinct. See the parade of up-and-coming designers’ creations at 12.25pm.
Special guest singer and one of the 2008 Golden Slipper Festival Ambassadors, Daniel Mifsud will perform the national anthem as well as entertain guests in the Bounding Away Marquee and on the main stage.
The racing program is worth more than $1.8 million with two Group 1 races: the Myer Queen of the Turf Stakes (1550m) and Ranvet Stakes (1900m) as well as four Group 2 events which will attract the best horses from around the country.
General admission is $20, with tickets available at the gate.
