Australia’s racing elite along with Sydney’s social set will be present tonight at one of the most extravagant launches to be held in the country.
The James Bond themed Golden Royale is Sydney Turf Club’s showpiece event to launch its newest facility and celebrate this year’s Golden Slipper Festival.
At a total cost of $30 million, the Grand Pavilion not only caters for race day patrons in luxurious style, but also offers the Sydney events industry a flexible, state-of-the-art venue for private and corporate events.
Tomorrow night’s launch will show off the new facility to 1,100 guests who will be treated to the finest cocktails and exquisite canapés especially created by the Club’s team of renowned chefs. The celebration will engage the latest event technology including Musion, the 3D holographic effect as seen at America’s MTV and Grammy Awards; entertainment by Oh James and String Divas; and parade of autumn fashion by Sydney’s up-and-coming designers as well as Myer millinery.
Sipping champagne and keeping an ear to the ground for the latest Golden Slipper Festival tips will be a host of celebrities including Golden Slipper Festival ambassadors Ali Mutch, Ryan Phelan, Lauryn Eagle, Samantha Wills, Daniel Mifsud and Alex Zabotto-Bentley.
Some of racing’s biggest names also attending the event include bookmaker Tom Waterhouse, high profile trainers Anthony Cummings, David Payne and Chris Waller and international jockeys Glyn Schofield and Jeff Lloyd.
The 6,300m2 double-storey Grand Pavilion can accommodate up to 2,000 seated guests. The first level offers 3,300m2 of exhibition space while the upper deck features purpose-built conference and dining facilities featuring soundproof walling and the latest sound and vision technology.
